Educational project
Welcome Educate Guide
of the individual
The educational project promoted by the school is rooted in the thoughts and works of Don Carlo San Martino, a Milanese priest and educator, who in 1885 founded the Pio Istituto Pei Figli della Provvidenza (the school’s governing body).
Don Carlo San Martino’s commitment was always directed toward preserving the personal dignity of every child and their right to be loved and to live in a context of positive relationships, with peers and adults, contributing to the realization of God’s plan of love for each individual.
Emphasizing the centrality of the person means recognizing, respecting, and promoting their potential, and tailoring every intervention in light of their needs as well as their resources.
The student, therefore, takes an active role in the formation and definition of their own knowledge and personality.
We are convinced that every child is intelligent and capable. Everyone is so in a different way: this uniqueness concerns us and challenges us.
cooperation
People—students, families, teachers—are meeting points: we know the value of relationships, we nurture them, and within the school, we want to grow together and thrive. We value both the cognitive dimension and the emotional dimension of our students: we support them in their formation and transformation.
We are passionate about research: knowing how to be and knowing how to do are our goals. We cultivate desires, spark questions, and strive to transform children’s imaginative hypotheses into research projects: child-sized, for the fullness of the present, and for the dreaming and building of the future.
We are aware that no knowledge is final: we educate for lifelong learning, for dialogue, for confidence in change, and for the responsibility of our presence in the world.
with the heart
The pedagogical vision of our founder, Don Carlo San Martino, is the tradition we are proud of and the reference horizon of our work: “educating the heart” means, for us, engaging all human qualities with a drive toward beauty, justice, and freedom.
Our research tools are daily activities, through which the child discovers the world, others, and themselves.
Teachers are educators, learning facilitators, allies, and partners with families in the care of the students. Acting as true guides, teachers stimulate discovery, encounter, and exchange, becoming a strategic and decisive point of reference for the student, who, through their help, learns to interpret reality from different perspectives and can thus explore the manifold territories of knowledge.
In the nursery, the spring section, and the preschool, we offer learning environments that are places of experience and formation: workshops, projects, moments of discussion, socialization, openness, and interaction with others and the local area, to accompany and guide children in the initial phase of their growth.
In collaboration with psychologists and pedagogists, we offer families training and discussion meetings on educational emergencies.
We are aware that by helping others grow… we grow ourselves: our community is strengthened by cultivating the value of the family and welcoming parents along with their children. Together, we create pathways to develop experiences that generate values and feelings. We believe in a network of communication and collaboration between family and school: for this reason, we propose common projects with shared meanings.
School System
From Nursery to Preschool, we accompany children along a path of education and development.
The Nursery welcomes children from three months to one year of age in the Infant Bears Section, and children from one to two years of age in the Toddler Bears Section.
The Preschool promotes the development of personal identity, the achievement of autonomy as an openness to relationships with others and to discovery, and the development of children’s skills.
The British Kindergarten, an English-language preschool, offers a play-based educational environment for children aged 3 to 6.
The program follows the EYFS approach, with individual and social activities commonly used in preschool settings in the United Kingdom and the United States.
